How can I lose weight without dieting?

How often have you heard people say 'if you eat less, and exercise more, that's all you need to do to lose weight'.  If only it was that easy!

 

Why do some people find weight loss so hard?

The fact is that for the majority of individuals dieting simply does not work. Instead of leading to permanent weight loss, diets in the long-term seem progressively to make matters worse.  The truth is that after dieting without changing habits, individuals are heavier than when they originally startedThe issue of emotional eating should be addressed as soon as possible in order to lose weight longterm.  There can be no permanent change in behaviour and attitude without the emotional condition of the client being understood by both therapist and the client themselves.

  

So what works long term?

There was a media frenzy recently when a slender, toned Lily Allen stepped out, proudly displaying her new body shape to the world's press.  She had clearly lost the weight that had been troubling her and her all-round health also seemed much improved as a result.  The method put forward as having helped her achieve this admirable goal was 'HypnoDieting'.  HypnoDieting is defined as 'weight loss managed through hypnotherapy'. 

 

A recent study carried out in America indicated the effectiveness of weight loss with hypnotherapy.  The research involved two groups of obese patients with one group receiving hypnosis alone and the other group receiving both hypnosis and an audio recording.  A third group, know as the control group, just received a verbal diet plan.  At the end of the study, both of the groups using hypnosis had lost an average of 17 pounds per person.  Whereas in the control group the participants had each gained half a pound.

 

Why HypnoDieting?

Don't let the word 'diet' in HypnoDieting make you think this is some type of diet!  The key here is that you will not be on a diet, just the mere word 'diet' implies something you do temporarily. If you diet against your normal patterns of behaviour which are in your subconscious mind, you may lose a little weight, temporarily. But as you know, as soon as you hit your target or there are temptations to overeat, you put all the weight back on, and some!

 

To make true, permanent changes in your life, it is necessary to get your subconscious mind in agreement with what you want to accomplish, rather than fighting and struggling to work against it. Hypnosis will have you wanting to eat the right kinds of foods, wanting to drink more water and wanting to be more active.

 

HypnoDieting boosts motivation so that you are more likely to want to complete the programme. Then, through visualisation and 'future pacing' (imagining and feeling your desired result), you will be able to establish clear-cut, realistic and achievable goals.  Finally, the desire for change approach will inspire your confidence and self-esteem.  This serves to increase the likelihood of that you will continue with these new behavioural patterns long after the therapy has finished.

 

However, for the therapy to be effective the most important area is the client's desire to lose weight and to keep it off.  In addition to this we treat every client as an individual and to truly understanding why each individual finds it so hard to lose weight and keep it off. This enables us to  establish bespoke solutions for each client.  HypnoDieting, as with all my hypnotherapy programmes are over three sessions.  At the end of the three sessions, HypnoDieting clients are given their own personal download of their last session to listen to at home. This will help you to maintain your new lifestyle.
