The key here is that you will not be on a diet, just the mere word 'diet' implies something you do temporarily. If you diet against your normal patterns of behaviour, which are in your subconscious mind, you may lose a little weight temporarily. But as you know, as soon as you hit your target or there are temptations to overeat, you put all the weight back on, and some!
Your subconscious mind holds all your unconscious beliefs, beliefs you may not even know that you have. These are the beliefs like, you have to eat everything on your plate, or can't just eat one biscuit, or when stressed you have to turn to chocolate. Unfortunately these beliefs can make it near impossible to loss weight and keep it off.
The subconscious mind is not a 'bad guy'. Your subconscious just does whatever it is programmed to do. It has just received bad programming, through the suggestions it picks up through your five senses; hearing, seeing, taste, touch, smell. In addition your habits play a big role as do your emotions. So, no matter how hard you try to break a habit at a conscious level, your subconscious mind is much more powerful and will win you over, eventually causing you to go back to what is easier for you.
To make true, permanent changes in your life, it is necessary to get your subconscious mind in agreement with what you want to accomplish, rather than fighting and struggling to work against it. Hypnosis will have you wanting to eat the right kinds of foods, wanting to drink more water and wanting to be more active.
The desire for change approach will inspire confidence and self-esteem in our clients. This serves to increase the likelihood of the client continuing with these new behavioural patterns long after the therapy has finished.
However, for the therapy to be effective the most important area is the client's desire to lose weight and to keep it off.
